It would be okay on this thread, WS, not sure how it would be interpreted elsewhere! :-0

Howzat dice for me too, I hadn't heard of Dot Cricket, though I do like the sound of filling up one of those big old scorebooks!

We used a pencil with the paint scraped off at the eraser end of each of the 6 flat “sides”. Each side had a number (0,1,2,4,6) with “W” on the 6th side. Rolling the pencil on the desk gave your score. I have a vague memory of a second pencil which gave manner of dismissal (possibly with a not out option) but that may not be an accurate memory!

Essentially that is the same as the Howzat game, Pothunter. Six-sided metal pieces which were rolled, the first one for scoring as you have said, the other had 4 modes of dismissal, not out and no ball.

Also had a table top game which had a green cloth “field” complete with boundaries. The bowler had a chute down which the ball travelled. Batting was done via a lever from behind the batsman which swung the bat. Runs were scored based on where the all stopped. Fielders could catch the ball between their feet.

My brother and I filled the score sheets with replays of the rebel West Indies tours to South Africa in the early 1980s

I *think* the reason one of my “dice” has no red paint on the letters is that it spent a couple of years in a flower bed. 😳

Given the hours and hours I spent playing Subbuteo Football, I never played Subbuteo Cricket. Don’t think I knew anyone who had a set. Seems odd now, but I guess it just wasn’t very successful?
