I’ve got Monday fortnight off to go to Northampton. I may have mentioned this before.

I was once corporately entertained at Northampton by Robert Horne paper. Friday evening T20 versus Glamorgan. Don't remember much olde worlde charm. Don't remember much about that evening to be fair.

With a few compromises it seems like you could easily play cricket and maintain a 2m distance:
1. No close fielders. 2. Appropriately spaced slips. 3. Bowler's end umpire back a few yards 4. 'Bob Willis in the JPL' run-ups. 5. Polish the ball with alcohol hand gel. 6. Batsmen run in marked lanes.
Play the County Championship behind closed doors and no-one would notice the difference 😉.
Anything I've missed?

Which are the grounds with charm? Taunton (obviously ); Worcester when not under water; Greppers will no doubt plug Chelmsford.
There used to be lovely outgrounds. I once played at Clarence Park in Weston Super Mare where first class cricket used to be played - an actual park most of the time. It was fast and bouncy in April which was a surprise... but I always liked those pitches best.

Funny you should say that Painers, I had the same conversation with Mrs Nico on Saturday as we stood watching the grass grow at our local club

7. When the ball is skied, the fielders have to call REALLY clearly.

8. Ban spinners and dibbly dobblies so keepers don't need to stand up

I attended a few Somerset games at Weston-super-Mare as a child.
Lancashire's outgrounds are pretty nice. Liverpool has the oldest pavilion in first-class cricket I think. They played a game in Sedbergh in 2019 (historically in Yorkshire) - lovely views of the Yorkshire Dales on all sides.
Kent's ground at Canterbury is a pretty nice one.
Northampton isn't a particularly attractive venue IMO - it was obviously shared with the football club until the Sixfields stadium was built.
