I think most people (inc me) expect that being vaccinated puts you in a much better position if you are infected. But all of these threads seem to conclude with same point - we're likely in for plenty of cases in the short term, which *might* turn ugly (we don't know either way) - so people/governments should up their level of caution in general. |

We have been told (HE) that we cannot teach online as it's a breach of our contract with the student, so I'm guessing we don't go online unless the gvt specifically mandates that.

For us, we have been told to be predominantly in person, but there are a few exceptions for people who are CEV, or deaf/HoH. We're supposedly going to 100% in person next semester, but I suspect omicron may have something to say about that. Thankfully it's my last day of teaching tomorrow until Feb, but I might make sure my PhD students have left everything in the lab in a safe and stable state before they break up, just in case there is a lockdown after Christmas. I'm mentally preparing myself for the worst and hope to be pleasantly surprised by the effectiveness of the boosters. |

Isn’t it possible to train by sharing a screen using Teams or similar That’s what we do. I find it easier than in person. |

You can propose a safer way of doing it and see if they like it.

BBC - just now. 'Covid: Pfizer says booster shot promising against Omicron' bit of optimism to counteract current mood. (Being ELDERLY, ie 68, I have had three Pfizers.) |
