Loving Gladiators! Such good entertainment.

I think the animal fun facts are great for getting kids noticing and engaged IMO.

I think as the weeks go on then the Gauntlet will get better as the Gladiators learn what to do.

Thought Brontë was great today 😀

Mark Clattenburg’s tattoos are great showing his history 😀

en.m.wikipedia.org

I didn’t know who he was but had spotted the Euro logo and date on his bicep and the Olympic rings too….

Oh, the ref is a soccerist.

D'you think they tried to get Nige and he said no?

Mark Clattenburg's tattoos relate to the tournament finals he has refereed.

Legend and Viper seem to have a set-in-stone heel persona. One loves himself and thinks he can't put a foot wrong, the other has a temper and blatantly steps out of line. At least both are not trying to be like Wolf who could be quite funny and occasionally gave a "well done" to the contenders to surprise everyone.

Thought the contenders today were interesting - both the ladies seemed lovely, but Bronte utterly outclassed the other lady, despite her giving it her all.

The men - well, during the one chap's intro I was actually saying "Yeah, we get it, you're straight" with all the showing of the kids, and "I love being a Dad" stuff - to then follow it up with an out and proud gayer gave me a real laugh (and of course I've already seen online comments about box ticking). We were both cheering on Team Gay, up to the point he clearly had no balance - poor guy.

But I thought some of the theatrics took away from the games and the fairness - in Duel and Gauntlet particularly (can we get a break from both events next week?)

OK, male contenders, would you rather face Viper or Giant in duel? If you have to have two gladiators, try to make them a similar size for fairness. It may have evened itself out somewhere in the show but I'll have to play it back as I can't remember all the games.

Yeah, the 'false start' then quick descent of viper in The first event felt overly staged.
I'm a fan of the WWE theatrics in context, but it definitely undermines the perception of fair competition.

I'd also like to restate my opposition to the 'locker room' camera. It adds nothing and feels creepy.

On the subject of false starts, is it just me who thinks that some games are beginning on the 'one' of the countdown rather than the whistle?

I haven't been watching that closely, I'm usually still busy complaining about how the women are being compared to Avondale answer the men are being compared to machines.

MrDragon and I have been enjoying watching it - I was the one who made the gladiators better at Gauntlet as before they did it I said I wondered if any contestant would fail to do it!
