I guess I’m not worried about the kids I’m worried about the school saying we haven’t done something right! Very 1984. The 9yo has cracked it today. Initiates his own call etc. But he is very lazy and will do the minimum 😂 reminds me of myself!

Hubby has decided that the next hour of home school is home economics - they are going to bake banana bread :-)

Fucking hell, what do they get virtual detentions if they don’t turn up to their virtual lessons?

How have I only just seen this?

Daughter's form tutor is getting stroppy about the small number turning up to early morning (well, 9am) form sessions so she attended this morning. TBH I think they should forget it; I find it very disruptive to have her up and about early in the morning as I get a lot of work done in the couple of hours before she emerges at a time more natural for her teenage biorhythms.

Ds2’s main complaint is that his teachers just don’t care. They can’t be bothered finding out how to engage kids virtually versus in real lessons (they are very different), they trot out the same slides which are predicated on classroom teaching, and their grasp of technology is appalling. Quite why they didn’t invest a week during the summer (or at any stage in the last 10 months) teaching teachers how to teach online is beyond me

Our teachers chat for about 20 min taking a register then very limited guidance.

Classic example: After call son (5) said “we just need to read a book”. I think from what is on Google classroom they have to read Bob the fucking Bubble, write their story, then their is an RE task to write about their family (i overheard family chat from the kitchen).
