My 15 year old recently asked me to remind her what an adjective is. This is someone who got an extremely high SATS score in Y6...

My 9 Year old got as a written problem: Area = 96cm2, length is 4cm longer than width. What are length/width.
That’s a quadratic equation to solve properly (otherwise just factors of 96).

Bob the fucking bubble I’d have thrown out the window by now and just given them some picture books to puzzle out. How ridiculous

Totri, I can tell you the answer and a way to do it, but each school will teach it differently. Factors is probably the easiest way, and at 9 they should be able to see that it is 12x8=96 because of the multiplication test we are working towards (which I don't know if it still be happening)

I worked it out but I guessed they wanted 12x8 rather than the quadratic 😂 Thanks!

Yeah, we only teach years 1 and 2 quadratic equations, after that we let them have a break for a bit

We seem to be settling in to a routine were the majority of school work is done before lunch and then something else gets done in the afternoon, we are in the middle of bread making currently.
This is of course entirely dependent upon the workloads of two parents who are supposed to be working full time.
There is always time for Fortnite and Netflix
