what sort of mileage do you have to put in before you can run a full marathon?

Signed up yesterday and looking forward to it, be my 1st time in Chester so looking forward to a new city. TRDK - everyone's individual in terms of mara training, I did my 1st on 25-30mpw, got me through in 4:25:00 which was ok for my 1st, best of luck with the training. |

Looking forward to this after marshalling at the chester half this morning.. The full marathons run by a great group of guys, and in its 2nd year with an improved flat fast rout.. Cant wait to be fit and running again just hoping for a sub 5 hours, but sub 4.40 would be nice...

Thanks. I am doing the runners world plan and that ranges from 23 to 30 miles a week .I have never hit those sort of miles in a week before so i am taking it nice and easy and making sure my slow runs are slow .

The Brathay 10 in 10 is an endurance running fundraising event to support vulnerable young people. The event, now in its fifth year, involves running the full Brathay Windermere Marathon course 10 times over consecutive days – that’s 262 miles in 10 days! The 13 runners taking part in this years’ 10 in 10 will complete their fifth marathon today (17th May) – half way through their extraordinary journey. You can watch the event unfold and see daily race results here: cumbrialive.tv To recognise the huge effort being made by the 10 in 10 runners this year, and to support some of the most disadvantaged young people in the UK, please text: MARA26£5 to 70070 (to make a £5 donation to directly support young people). Thank you, Scott |

I'm doing this. It'll be my first marathon, I'm going for sub-3:15. No idea if I can do it but may as well aim high (and it's consistent with my half marathon PB). It looks like a good race to do...not so big that it'll be stressful but a good crowd there. And the fact that you run into Wales and back is cool. I'm doing the Pfitzinger and Douglas up to 55 miles a week training plan. I originally planned to do the higher mileage one but realistically I'm not running at that level yet. Training starts Monday! Although it's a rest or cross-training day so I won't do my first training run until Tuesday. |
