I think that the organisers are brilliant concerning the training runs etc - wished I'd have had that help in preparing for my 1st one (mind you not that I'd have paid any attention!)

The Penketh Runner
After having to pull out last year due to an ankle injury, I'm getting a bit excited about doing the Chester Marathon this year. Just a shame that i'll be missing my hat-trick of Leicester Marathons, but it is my local marathon and it would be rude not to support it. |

I just seriously looked at the route for the first time and it looks great. If I do decide to go for a road marathon in October then I may well go for this over Liverpool (though Liverpool sounds like it will be the place to be in a Fetch vest). Especially if you like flapjack!

Apparently Liverpool is going ahead: runliverpoolmarathon.co.uk It's been said a thousand times already, but it amazes me that the event is going head-to-head with Chester. Chester was so good last year, and will be even better in 2011 on the course through the city. I'd rather stick with an event known to be excellent than take a chance on Liverpool. I wish them all the best however, and may well consider it in 2012. |

Chester was brilliant long and boring in places, taking me all my time to keep my phsycological concentration going But we'd glady return |

It's a different course this year Mick. Looks like a cracker. There's a route map on the event website and a link to the map somewhere in the depths of this thread.
