New course this year ... last year it was basically an out-and-back on a tarmac cycle way built on a disused railway. As a route it was a bit dull and coudl have been anywhere ... but it was flat. I think the new route is more interesting as it takes in the City ... via the Cathedral, Eastgate clock, amphitheatre, castle, walls, weir, etc ... this time you will feel like you're in Chester. It's likely to be pretty flat again but won't be quite as flat as the railway track route ... I think there's something of a climb out at Gresford. mapmyrun.com |

Well I get up there a few times a year to see family so would be nice to do a run through in stead of just walking round the shops.

A great turn out for the traning run this morning, Perfect weather, scenic routes & good company - its much more fun when running with a group. Thanks everyone - looking froward to the next group traning run on Sunday 5th December. As today there will be 3, 6 & 9 mile options. Keep an eye on on the training page of the race web site (www.chestermarathon.co.uk) for more details. p.s. Anyone know how to put a web link in a post? - Thanks |

Chris - nearer the time of the race will the training runs include long runs? (might be interested in coming over from manchester if they do)

Hi Pato The aim is to build the distances as we get closer to race date, with different groups to cater for all. The distances will gradually increase from New Year & will be posted in advance on the web site and e mails to those entered. Would be good to see you at the runs - we are aiming to have a few with short Q&A sessions at the end from a personal trainer, physio etc to get more out of the session. Full details will be on the web site. |
