Aw, that's so cute. Thank you everyone, I've been drip feeding positive stuff about cats and dogs for several months now, so I'll point him in the direction of this thread to finally nail the argument...

Not really adding anything new to the discussion but just more evidence that cats and dogs can get along. (although the cat was the boss and always stole the dog's blanket)

We also did puppy walking for the Guide Dogs for the blind and had a raft of puppies through the house over the years while we also had 2 cats and it was never an issue.

I think key is older cat, introduce puppy.

Older dog, introduce kitten.

I am looking forward to puppy and cat pics now!

I previously had a Rough Collie who lived with cats. We introduced him as a puppy to 3 other cats who all took the huff but came round. Sadly puppyhood coincided with losing one cat to cancer and subsequently introduced a kitten and later an other older stray cat. They all got on - to the extent that the cats would follow us on walks. Kitten and pup were best of friends when young though as she got older the kitten became less tolerant of the dog and not so keen to play with him. That was several years ago. Three months ago I introduced a 9 week old rough collie puppy to an approximately 9 year old cat who I rehomed from CP 2 years ago. I initially kept them in separate parts of the house and let one get free roam whilst the other was in a room. Cat gets free roam of house at night - she isn't keen on going out but will have occasional potter in the garden. Pup is in a room with pup gate at night. This hasn't been easy - they are now comfortable enough to be settled and sleep in the same room in the evening but there can be a bit of barking (when cat is sat on windowsill) and hissing (when pup gets too close and ignores warnings.) I don't think these guys will be best buddies but can co-exist.

My experience is cats can get on better with dogs than with other cats but it has all been older cat and puppy

Love that. Mine have not investigated the new box I got, but it is a bit small and this happened today.

She's fine but keeps trying to shake the bandage off. Had a bit of an issue at the vets in that they tried to give me the same antibiotics as I'd had previously and she will not take them so much so she'll refuse food with them in. They gave her a jab instead. Also turned out their estimate was well off. Beans on toast for the next month anyone?
