Agree re the cat taking charge over a puppy. Napoleon might be affronted for a while but I'm sure he'll soon have the puppy where he wants it.

Cat will have seniority, and as Napoleon was there first, I think you will have no issues. Dog will fit in fine and soon learn his place.
If you had already a dog and were looking to introduce a cat, then there are pitfalls, but that's not the case here.
Either way, despite pitfalls, i think it's nice to have both if you can... millions of households do it afterall!
