I`ve used the Nirvana coach transfer service out of Morpeth for the last 2 years, great for a post-race snooze before the drive back home :-)

Park at finish Metro to start. Means you'll be stuck in traffic out of SS for ever, though...

I don't mind being stuck in traffic afterwards, I just want to get to the start in time, lol.

Done GNR 11 times now and the quickest escape route I had was last year when I left my bike down at a friends house near the finish line the night before and cycled home the 12 miles or so back to my house through the pedestrian tunnel.

Its most likely easire to park in the town centre at South Shields then get the Metro to the start then when uyou finish walk to your car.The car parks down near the finish are a nigthmare or if you aren't in a rush to get away just hang about and let the crowds thin a little.
I did almost 16 miles today Mick nice n steady and i'm trying to get some faster pace runs during the week.I've just been told that its registration w/end at work for this years University intake so i will be working on the Saturday before the run.

I always park at the start and make my way back. 2 years ago I tried the metro and we ended up walking to the station 1 further down than South Shields and getting one going back to South Shields so we could stay on the train when it turned back round - don't recommend that really

Last year we got the bus back, there wasn't much of a queue and the bus got to go down the closed roads so it was erally quick. I'll be doing that again this year.

Also the bus from the finish does a drop of at Heworth station which is a big park and ride so you could park there and get the metro to the start and then get dropped off by the bus on the way back.
