Put me down for the pre-race meet. Might give the post-race drinks a miss though.

Keep an eye out for the magazine which comes with the race number.
They are doing a special on those of us who have are daft/stupid/foolhardy/brave enough to have completed all previous 29 GNRs. I provided several photos but don't know which, if any, they'll use.

Hard to believe back in 1981, I was a young whippersnapper of 20 & sometime in the 1990s (think it was 1993 or 1994) I managed 1hour 24 on the GNR course. Mind my PB was 1 hour 23 (achieved twice at Watford).

Oh yes, before I forget, on 18 Sept Sunderland are at home to Arsenal & at the Life museum (next to Newcastle Central Station) there is Dr Who exhibition of props & stuff from previous series.

I did the first one - at the ripe old age of 13!

Race numbers cannot be far off as the latest email was asking to check address before today. So must be getting ready to post out in next few weeks.

There is an exhibition about the Great North Run on at the Hancock Museum in Newcastle at the moment - it will be on until October 17. There are various films (here is one http://www.greatnorthrunculture.org/moving-image/commissions/runner) and video diaries, a collection of outfits people have run in, running shoes over the years etc.

I enjoyed it yesterday :-)

Hi, I am running GNR too, coming down from Penicuik (near Edinburgh) on the day as I can't get anywhere to stay. I am hoping if I leave Penicuik reeeeallly early that I will make it in time for the race. Will look out for you all!

I agree DeeGee, I have just been looking at the GNR website and realise now that my plans may be a little ambitious. Not quite sure if i will be able to do it now - which is a little disappointing. I have just looked at the Nirvana site for booking and there is still accommodation but if I have deep pockets - will have to just keep looking. was looking forward to it as well!

JaneyM, you could try the Newcastle Youth Hostel in Jesmond, less tan a mile or so from the start, or the Great North Camp site at Sedgefield Racecourse, they lay on shuttle buses to get you to the start. Failing that try looking further afield for accomodation - Sunderland, Stoctton, Middlesbrough or Yarm for example.
