Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Anyone know if there is a cut off time for bag drop off? Event guide doesn’t state anything.

I'm making assumptions here but I would guess that you will need to put your bag on the lorry before entering the athletes only area as this leads you to the start. Check the time when your coloured corral is due to enter this area and drop your bag off just prior to this. The lorries tend to be lined up on the north side of Preston Park.

Baggage trucks will be on the main road, west side of the park this time.

That will be interesting. What with non-runners and pedestrians around, I would not have thought that would be the most ideal place for them to be. I think the minis parked up along that section as well. That is, unless the minis and Lambrettas are no longer welcome!

Thanks for the tracker, tommy-b. Based on the total number of entrants alone, we seem to have quite a large field in the marathon, yet it will be the smallest BM10k since it began.

Baggage trucks are at the north end, cavalcade normally assembles at the south end but I don't know what the plan is with the new route; near Withdean just after the U turn is the logical place to start so that they cover as much of the route as possible but avoid the U turn - it normally misses the U turns at Ovingdean because it slows down too much getting everyone round a tight U.

I saw a message on FB from one of the mini? scooter? people a couple of weeks ago, he said a few weeks ago they'd been invited but then heard nothing...so it's not only runners who are kept in the dark. I'm signed up to volunteer but haven't had any details of when/where to go, hopefully they'll send something soon!

Facebook is interesting - in previous years it's been full of complaints about having to collect racepacks, this year people are complaining about the uncertainty of receiving them in the post and asking why they can't collect form the village. Can't please all the people all the time!

GEC always maintained that race pack collection ensures that everyone has it ahead of race day. Third party collections were acceptable. This also reduced their pre-race admin issues by having to provide replacement packs as a result. That came into effect in 2012.

I think we could all see this happening and we're not entirely surprised either. I am pretty confident, as we enter the LME era, that race pack collection will return from 2024.

It's odd that they decided to post race packs given that you have to collect for London, I'd have thought they'd have followed the same plan as GE and London rather than going for something different.

Just had a message from the scooter/mini guy who says he's now been told they aren't having the cavalcade this year.

It was fun for the participants and spectators but runners did complain about 2 stroke fumes filling the course!

Early weather forecast suggests that we could have a first wet race. 35-39% chance of rain until early afternoon with a bit of a breeze too.
