That’s kind of you Dipps. Let me check today and see what I can fit in. I’ve got quite good at ‘vacuum packing’ kit bags 😊

All good 👍. The kit bags are a decent size, no worries about dying of hypothermia on the way home. On the train back to London now. That was a very smoothly organised pick up, no queues or stresses. Good work, Brighton.

One thing did occur to me though. I see we are being offered a free go on the zip wire after the race. What they should have done is have us officially finish just before it and then zipped us down for a spectacular photo opportunity over a false second finish line!

(And we still don’t have any changing areas which is a big shame.)

Well that's it for another BM Weekend. I hope you all got around the course and got home safely. I think that was probably the largest amount of post-race goodies I have ever picked up in Brighton which for me made up for a bit of a mixed race.

I had struggled with my training and fitness since February but was optimistic if I could deal with the hills and was still running well by mile 10. In part, this happened but I felt a niggle in my right calf at mile 9 and was having to stop to massage/stretch it a mile later. My running rhythm had been thrown out and I never really got it back. I finished in 5:03 although did think I had just broken 5 hours but I was wrong and can't prove it otherwise as my Garmin gave up the ghost with two miles to go. The final four miles into that cold headwind was not ideal.

However, I was pleased to get my 10/10 medal and technical shirt which was a nice recognition by the organisers.

Yes, I have signed up again for next year. Hopefully, the winter training will be more fruitful and [for me] 2020 will be even better.

Is it just me or is anyone else having issues using Race Roster to complete their entry for next year's event?

Just in case anyone entered next year's race at the pre-race Expo, you may have experienced the same issues as myself.

Following on from my last entry, I had to e-mail Race Roster (copying in Grounded Events) as my unique promo code was not sent. This is different to the confirmation number. They have now sent me my code and I have now been able to complete my registration.

Got something to say?

The tenth Brighton Marathon is almost upon us. Are we looking forward to our 26.2 miles by the sea?
