Good one, PC. I had a 15K race today, so to get the mileage I needed, I ran the course once before the race started, then ran the race. It was another very hilly one (I seem unable to avoid hilly races), but I achieved the objective, racing at marathon pace. for the second 15k. The elevation is shown below. [IMAGE]

Hey Frank, it looks like you were running underground! Are you sure you weren't caving!

57.5 Degrees of Pain
Talk of tapering is a bit worrying to me as I haven't really got into training yet PC. Will try to get a decent mileage and long run this week though. Taper will be Thursday flight and the weekend before the race!

Looks like you've got the natural speed in any event 57.5. If Comrades is your main event Boston will be like a warm up event for you but what a fantastic events to be lucky enough to do.
Last tune up race for me this morning a 10 mile race in the town of Thirsk, North Yorkshire. Fast and flat. Wind has dropped a bit too so I am hopeful of improving my pb, although a tough track session and over enthusiastic park run yesterday were probably not optimum preparation.
What are everyone's goals for Boston?

Good luck, SPKoF. I hope you get that goal. My training is indicating I that I should be able to maintain a 7:10 pace, so 3:08 is realistic, if conditions are good.

Once a Sprinter ...
20 mile(underlating) race (Oakley) completed in 2:27:26. Looks good for sub 3:20 but do I have the nerve to go for sub 3:15?!

Cracking 10 mile pb for me today in 1:02. Perfect conditions for the run.
I'm hoping to sneak under the 3 hour mark at Boston but for that to happen the weather gods need to be kind and the course needs not to be as scary as some make out. I'm going to be giving it a bash though.

Crikey OaS, I must have been right up your exhaust pipe at Oakley (2:27:57).
For what it's worth I am in very similar shape to this time last year, and did Boston in 3:12:51 last year (doing London this year) so I think you are on for 3:15, no question. Takes a smart, well executed race to do well at Boston - more so than any other marathon I've done, but I'd give 3:15 a go if I was you.

Once a Sprinter ...
Thats great insight TRO S
I reckon I did the last 13.1 today in near enough 96 minutes and feel reasonably confident I could do this off the back of a 99 minute first half. I've done Boston twice before and the hills are not (from memory!) as tough as Oakley or Stamford.
