Foxy Dave and Corndoll: Contro ran the World Majors in 2008. I ran Boston and Chicago that year as well. We had a really hot time in Chicago...it was 27 degrees by the finish, and that was in October. That was the race wherein SarahL collapsed about 100 yards from the finish.

Looking forward to a Fetch meet-up at Boston in 2012. I booked my accommodations before I registered. Getting a room in the Back Bay for the race weekend is about impossible now. You will find some in town, but you will pay dearly for one. For anyone who has not booked, I recommend looking for hotels west of the city along the rail lines. Check here for information about transportation. mbta.com

The following was posted about 5 minutes ago on the Boston Marathon Facebook page.
Next week, 2012 Boston Marathon applicants will be notified of their acceptance. Those applicants who are unable to be accepted also will be notified next week. Our registration team is working overtime all weekend to bring in and verify the performances submitted this past week. And, out of respect for all those marathoners who've submitted an application, the B.A.A. will not release data on the cut-off time needed for acceptance until after our applicants have been notified. This part of the process is underway and will be ongoing until the notifications are ready to be issued. We fully realize how eager all applicants are to receive information on their status, and for that reason we express our appreciation to all for your patience.

"Next week, 2012 Boston Marathon applicants will be notified of their acceptance."

That's weird. I got a notification of acceptance a couple of days after I submitted my application (about ten days ago now, I guess). It just said I was in, assuming the information I provided was accurate (it was!).

Moabird if you entered in the first week ie. BQ-20, -10 or -5 we were told after our qualifying band closed. The second week people have to wait to see if they were the fastest of the rest who applied.
Frank looking forward to a Fetch meet up in Boston I have a friend from NY running too but as I'll be travelling alone it will be good to have a few other friends to meet up with.

I'll be more than happy to meet up with a few fetchies - but will be at Fenway for at least 2 of the days :)

Once a Sprinter ...
Just got the email. Missed out. The cut-off time for my age group (>55) was 3.43.46, so my 3.45.38 was almost 2 minutes too slow!

Need to run sub 3.40 over the next 12 months to stand a chance in 2013

This may have been my best chance to get in

sorry to hear that sprinter :(

Still thinking specific defined times is a better way to go & then you know exactly what to shoot for.

Really sorry to hear that Sprinter. I understand it is discouraging, but you can use that as motivation to take your training up a notch and give it another shot. You're still young. I say that sincerely as we're both in in same age group and I truly mean it.
