Jude for me too. Hardy we can all get behind I think. And CCF.

Yes I agree. But Tess is my fave, I think because I read it first.

Sexy working class boy dreams of Oxbridge entrance with various unsuitable love affairs on the way. What's not to like?

A pair of blue eyes I liked and Jude and Tess but I think I'd find Hardy a bit hard going now. Whereas I loved vanity fair by Thackeray with The wicked Becky fixing a killing bow. persuasion, p&p or northanger abbey all v readable Austen I like classics. But not so much dickens who lays it on with a trowel a bit for me tho Davy copperfield had a good baddie. Master and Margarita is good to for Russian classics. Might go and have a read now!

Vanity Fair is a complete hoot! I love bad girls who don't come to a sticky end. She doesn't really does she?

I remember disliking The Trumpet Major but it was a long time ago and I don;t remember why.

I find Hardy just a bit too depressing and having seen the film of Jude the Obscure I don't think I could face reading the book.
Finished Nod last night, will post my thoughts on the discussion thread.
I'm also half way through Into The Woods (first Dublin Murder Squad book) and I'm really enjoying it.
