Yes, it's a comic pastiche type thing based on a radio series (which I'm not familiar with). It was pretty funny but rather samey. Lots of fun had at the expense of Victorian fiction.

OMG - The Amateurs is about golf.

I've ordered Thomas Penman from the horrid tax-dodgers. Had to get some other stuff including a power button for my laptop which is held together with sellotape.

I hate golf but am loving The Amateurs, McG. Which just goes to show how shite my taste in literature is as it is quite full on!

Because The Peculiar Memories of Thomas Penman is not on the Kindle, I've got the Simon Mayo Drivetime book from the other night, The Peculiar Life of a Lonely Postman. Not something I'd normally go for, but it sounded interesting on the radio.

Simon Mayo, Kermode, I can't explain it but whenever I hear them I get a violent urge to reach in to the radio, grab them by the throat and strangle them.

I hate Mayo too. But I don't mind Kermode, mainly 'cos my Mum met him once :)
