I have only read The Hotel New Hampshire. There are at least two other Irvings on the shelves which I have never got round to. Started one (Setting Free the Bears?) which I found unreadable crap and gave up IIRC. The Hotel New Hampshire - NE, GerP, McG |

In fairness I loved THNH and doubly so as it's the book that made me read The Great Gatsby

Badger
Good question. The Hotel New Hampshire - NE, GerP, McG A Prayer for Owen Meany - Badger But you might get a different answer tomorrow. I rather liked Setting Free the Bears, though it's extremely silly in places. I went off the later stuff, very sprawling and self-indulgent - what I think of as "too famous to be edited syndrome". |

I feel guilty as I always do when someone passes I've not read any of their work. Flawed human trait. But they live on in their books it's been on my mind to read one of hers for ages. Never got round to it. But so many books But I will now |

The Hotel New Hampshire - NE, GerP, McG, Linds A Prayer for Owen Meany - Badger THNT is one of my all-time favourite books. Sad to hear about Toni Morrison. I really liked Beloved, both times. |
