Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I have story books coming out of my ears; this is an Audible purchase to go in my ears. :-)

Anyway, as you'll recall, I'm hoping for a serendipitous discovery in our internet-free holiday home :-)

NE - I'll be reading Tropic Of Ruislip within the next few months! I have a lovely hardback sat patiently on my shelf...

Dio - I'm about to read something "long but not too taxing" - Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire

My most gripping ever find (in work colleague's holiday home south of Biarritz in 2005) was Archangel by Robert Harris, a plot king I'd never read before.

I subsequently read a few others of his, though one of the most famous - Enigma - is 30 pages in, on the to be continued pile along with Milkman, Circe, Games of Thrones, Springsteen's* auto bio, The Lie (Helen Dunmore) and one or two others I can't rightly recall.

* not partic a fan but he can write.

Oops The Game of Thrones is the first book, I wanted to see what all the fuss is about. Very readable ... but I got fed up with it and started skipping. This is a common theme with me and books.

Am slightly rubbish reader!

I duly note that Sci Fi, with a side order of magic realism and fantasy is deffo the genre of choice for the Fetch Book Club massive.

A word of caution Dio: I stopped listening to an audiobook of Geoff Dyer as I hated it so much. Started again on the physical book and loved it.

I'd disagree on the Sci-Fi/magic realism/fantasy genre-lisation, or is it just that I have ignored most of those?

Anyone read C J Sansom?
