I remembered McG's recommendation of Out Of Sheer Rage by Geoff Dyer, so I've gone for that.

It's ages since I read Out of Sheer Rage ...but it's a lot more fun than A Little Tale of Extreme Woe, to be sure.

You need a STORY book though, Dio!
