looking forward to this now. Did my last really lsr last sunday - 16 miler for the second week running. Now have 10k's the next 2 sundays which i will run at around target hm pace and probably a 10miler middle of next week is the furthest i'll go now. Oh and the midlands mile on saturday of course! Goal is to take 1 minute per mile off pb set at last year's race so hope to get just under 1.40. Just hope the start is better organised than last year! !

If it's unpleasantly congested, I'll be somewhere else next year!

I think i might be the same, only done small races till now and I like them. Although the crowd this year may be a one off due to the Worlds?

if there's 11000 it's gonna be a bit 'friendly' to say the least. Let's hope the start is graded properly so we're neither holding up or held up by people faster / slower than ourselves

There was about 6900 last year, and the grading did work, I found myself in pen 2 and despite the surge forwards from behind as a few eager beavers flew out from behind while I tried (and managed) to even pace it and surely enough I'd picked up many of them a few miles down the line, it wasn't too congested at all. Had more problems at Plymouth Half this year to be honest where they had 3800 and I couldn't get in my pen and had to go in the 2hrs plus one - but it meant I kept a sensible pace for the first half and had a three minute neg split and an absolute belter of a second half of the race and a big pb - so "being held up" isn't always a bad thing.

This year it was a choice of Birmingham or France's St Pol de Leon half (which is actually closer to where I live in the UK than Brum) and I'm not sorry to say the French one won absolutely hands down. 3 years gone from Brum and the further the time becomes the less I miss it!
