I am not making Christmas cake for us this year, it never gets eaten! I may make one for MiL. I think I still have puddings from last year, so no need to make those either.

Daughter's birthday on Sunday: she'd like red velvet cake. Any pointers to the best recipe? I think when I've attempted it previously it wasn't red enough and a bit dry.

Don't know if my Mum will make one, given that Christmas is likely to be a slimmed-down affair this year.

I love xmas cake - no problem with it not getting eaten here. No idea about red velvet cake, sorry.
Would you not bake one Linds?

I suppose I could. She might feel usurped I'll ask her.

You might be surprised Linds. I offered to make one for MiL when she and FiL were moving here (they were due to move in October) and much to my surprise she bit my hand off. I've left her to make her own since as she uses a different recipe to me so it means I get to eat more and different xmas cake
