It was also amazing how much noise there was from around the court. People finding seats, chattering, and louder voices from just outside. The two of them just got on with playing through it

I watched the match from the comfort of home :) Aside from the dramatics, there was some amazing tennis, but the commentary was bloody awful, overwhelmingly pro-Tsitsipas, even after he blasted balls both out of the court and directly at Kyrgios.

Not saying there wasn't poor behaviour on both sides, but with Kyrgios surely it comes factored in as that's his modus operandi...

I loved the pace of the Kyrgios service games - compared to the funereal pace of some as they bounce, bounce, bounce the ball, it made the whole thing so compelling. Of course, the commentary were most cross about the entertainment value of the whole affair.

Idea for BBC next year, have some of the red button channels showing the tennis without commentary, and without having to flick between different streams to keep up.

Isn't that the point and why the BBC was pro Tsitsipas? Kyrgios is getting away with stuff he shouldn't be a getting away with and because he does it so much people look at someone else that reacts as somehow worse because it's not what they are normally like.

None of them are saints are they, but Kyrgios is another level.

Chameleon, some of the earlier round games on the red button were broadcast without commentary and were very enjoyable. I think one of the games with either Broady or Peniston.

I too thought the commentary was a little bit skewed though I found the match gripping. There's an argument that both should have been DQ'd (Pissipass for hitting the ball into the crowd, Kyrgios for foul language) but glad they didn't.

I feel tennis is almost actively encouraging these characters to heighten the emotions and gripping matches.

I said to housemate during the 3rd set that I thought the match was going to end in a default - was genuinely surprised (and relieved) that it made it to a conclusion. He thought it was the craziest match he'd ever seen - he was also conflicted about who he wanted to win, as they were both dicks (his language was more colourful)

Might limit myself just to the Norrie match today. Yesterday was exhausting!

Slightly annoyed at the break in tradition and having games on the middle Sunday, as I was planning on spending today flicking between the Tour, the F1 and the cricket!

I thought it would end in injury retirement when K was lying on the floor in pain. Glad it didn’t.

Whilst we’d have loved a final set it was already quite late and we were quite glad to finish when we did, we were at the gates at 9.30am so it was a looong day!
