679 for me so far this year, the castles challenge is going to get me to target earlier than normal so probably it will be my highest yearly walking mileage ever.

Me too DT but then made redundant and now officially retired, so still have the opportunity and time to walk lots more but the enthusiasm for it I had last year has jaded a little tbh. It's a chore some days as walking by myself seems to increase my feelings of loneliness and isolation but OH is also retiring the end of next month so looking forward to having his company 🙂

How have I only just seen this? I'm walking far more than running these days. Trying to find a decent shoe - I was using old running trainers but they've just worn out. Am going to try a walking shoe instead ( decathlon.co.uk ). Way behind in the castles challenge but will try to catch up; I have Endure 24 and possibly Beachy Head marathon to motivate me! Very true that the longer (16 mile) training walks I've done before were easier to fit in when I wasn't working. |

We had a lovely sunny walk around Derwent Water today. Beautiful scenery and a lovely day to be out.

I went out with my walking group yesterday for the first time since the first lockdown, only 8 miles around foxton locks iin Leicestershire but so nice to have a good social with people who I haven't seen for so long. And a glass of cola in the foxton inn at the end. |

(as posted on the conquersize thread) I've long been a bit miffed that walking is only 1 conquersize point when proper stand up sports should be 2. Now that walking is a separate category, not merged in with lots of other activities in x-train, I have raised a feature request 1166 for it to be changed. Agree - please vote for it. Disagree - please also vote. |
