That sounds a bit farfetched though, Fozzy.
You're right, though. It's magic, but it's magic which is consistent within universe (more or less). Why would that be a problem? Any technology that is suffucuantly advanced would appear to be magic and all that.

To be fair any faster than light travel in Sci Fi is bullshit. Was it Chewbacca who said "Ye canae change the laws of physics cap'n"?
Subspace communications, inertial dampers, warp drive, phasers, dilithium crystals, shields, transporters. It's all cobblers innit? It's made up and, when it comes down to it, all a bit far fetched.

Tangentially, had a wonderful conversation with my 9 year old niece today, where she wanted to know if space was infinite, and if it was, what it would be like if you could travel to the edge. I have a feeling Christmas is going to include drawing pictures of toruses (no, autocorrect, not trousers) and warping her mind with how you can have a finite surface with no edges. Mmm, doughnuts.
