I just bought two packs of ground decaf on offer in Waitrose: Raw Bean. It is good, as far as decaf goes, but not quite right with my coffee machine. Better in the French press... I cannot have caffeine at the moment and do still fancy the odd coffee. |

If you want a good decaf, this comes highly recommended, including by the OH elevensescoffeeand.co.uk [roaster currently on holiday, so all products marked as out of stock, but back in a couple of weeks] |

That sounds a bit too sweet to my taste... I like my coffee quite bitter and no sweetness or citrus in sight...

Bought some really nice decaf Peruvian and made a cold coffee with whole milk last night which I had for breakfast this morning. Think it's this one - the flavour description is spot-in. wogancoffee.com

As usual over Christmas a few family members bought me some well-intentioned coffee, not all to my taste, though some was. But the stuff that wasn't to my taste was a little redeemed by a) the fact that one of my offspring has now decided he enjoys a latte, so I can use it for that and b) I bought a stove top gooseneck kettle with a temperature dial on it, and that made a big difference in turning otherwise less tasty "speciality" coffees (to my palate) into a more acceptable drink. So now at home I'm up to:- Moka pot Espresso machine Vacuum (bodum Pebo) v60 Aeropress French press Espresso machine still gets the most use, mainly for americano in the morning, but I have started to enjoy the ritual of v60 coffee making, even if the style of coffee is not quite what I would want to drink daily. Aeropress is my work go-to option, though ironically now I've got some half decent beans, a hand grinder on my desk and the aeropress, I am drinking less coffee at work anyway. I can often go for the whole day without a drink of anything other than my morning coffee, which can't be doing my kidneys any good! Any new recommendations? Would like to find a good supply of dark, chocolatey, bitter decaff, but suspect even if I did I wouldn't burn through it as quickly as needed to keep it tasty. |

Larkim that kettle sounds ace! Suitable for gas? I have wittled it down to Raw Bean Definitely Decaf. It is a very dark roast. Comes in beans or ground. Waitrose sells it! It comes closest to the caffeinated coffee types I like but I use 1.5 cup quantity to get a flavourful brew. It makes and excellent crema in my DeLonghi coffee maker. Not tried it with other methods. I have had the ground and beans and much prefer it freshly ground. Mind, I do for all coffee! |
