Carpathius
I haven't run yet today. I had a lovely one off road in the dark last night (don't tell Mr Carp!) until I got to one field popular with dog walkers. Someone was on the path on the opposite side to where I entered, looked like they were following the path by torchlight. Then the torch flashed over to me a couple of times (I didn't have a torch on, it was in my pocket) and after a moment it looked like the person was coming across the field - not on any paths. The torch kept shining on me and I felt a bit uneasy, so I went behind a large mound and waited. Torch shone either side. I then legged it for the nearest road. Probably unnecessary, but highlights how being alone and particularly being female means you have to think the worst. I refuse to stop running alone and/or in the dark, because I don't think I should stop something that gives me great peace because of my gender. I definitely am not mentioning it to Mr Carp though, he'd be cross with me (because he cares). |

Fragile Do Not Bend
Hopefully just someone making sure you weren’t doing anything you shouldn’t Carp. When I’m out on a night run with my trail running group, I often wonder if people think we are going out to lamp rabbits or something. I’m very tired today, probably paying the price for January being my highest mileage month ever. I’m going to take it (relatively) easy this week. |

Amazingly, I have run more miles in February than anyone else on the 700 table. I'll enjoy it while it lasts

It's unsettling isn't it Carp, even if completely innocuous I've got a PT induction/session booked for 2pm. Wish me luck! |

That was partly what put me off yesterday Carp - running in the dark and fear of others in the vicinity! Crazy as I used to do it all the time!

I have zero sense of direction - I love running in new areas but really have to concentrate on where I turn off etc, I try to do out and backs wherever possible so I don't get lost. I am doing admin for a while, am in the studio looking at the mess thinking that I need to tidy up. Plan is to do a little run tonight. |

Also, looks like school have finally realised that daughter has a talent for art "Current assessments show your child is on target to meet her target grade, having said this as Izzy is really talented in art and has a lot of potential to exceed this target." Hopefully she will use the extra sessions they've offered. I've emailed her mum to try to get her to encourage her too, but she doesn't think much of art...... |

I hope you get great benefit and enjoyment for it, LD I've just been to have a play on the machines at the gym. I've booked a session with an instructor to learn how to set up the barbells - I daren't try on my own. |

LittleDonkeyDaisy Cheltenham has unsalubrious areas? I like running in new places, despite my propensity for getting lost. But I no longer run off-road because of my iffy knee. Off-road *and* in the dark, Carp - isn't that asking for trouble? Not from people with ill intent, but from stepping on uneven terrain which you can't see properly. 3 and a quarter miles run today. |

You bet, Columba! When I was an EWO I had stones thrown at me in one street, and a retired policeman advised me always to park my car facing the exit of a particular cul-de-sac so I could beat a hasty retreat if needed The gym induction was very good. I liked Josh the PT straightaway and he's emailed me a good 'set' to do. Some of the upper body/core stuff used to be easy ten years ago - now, not so much!!! |
