Awesome work, 12bar and Teeebs :-)

I have a 45-60 min recovery run this morning and a very full day that includes work (in preparation for going back to work tomorrow after what feels like the world's shortest week off)

Cor great work 12bar and TeeBee medalmedal and luck Daisy
I had a really lovely run yesterday, relaxed into it, eased up slopes that would’ve defeated me a few weeks ago, it started really poorly too. And included having to stand to one side of a docile cow and wait for it to stop eating the stile
Quads v sore now to extent I didn’t trust my hips to stand quickly last night when I woke to the sound of catsick. MrS was out there dabbing a long time last night so I think scaredy-cat made a real job of it.

It may seem like I was out in the NF taking pics of deer (everywhere is still very dry ar), but this is what we had planned for the day ....

Another driving day today. From Redding to Crater Lake, surprisingly another 200 miles, and about 4 hours.

The first 20 miles or so are dominated by Shasta Lake and the imposing Mount Shasta.

And for the next 20 miles, the view in the mirror is dominated by the same.

Then we take a stop to explore Klamath Falls which despite the name, seems to have replaced the ‘falls’ with a hydro-electric station.

From ‘Top 10 Things to do in Klamath Falls’ : People always ask, “Where are the waterfalls in Klamath Falls?” And the blatant truth is… there are no falls.

But the lake and scenery is fantastic.

Then on to Crater Lake. Of all the stops, this one caused me the most hassle. There is a lodge, at the lake, the perfect place to stay.
But it was fully booked. Like many US ‘in park’ accommodation, you need to be phoning/booking as soon as the window opens. Typically 12 months prior. In this case, 6 months before we’d even thought of going.
So, to start with I booked Mazama Cabins, about 10 miles from the lake. But was advised to keep looking & checking out for cancellations.
Over the next 4 months, with a bit of help from covid, I managed to get and book, and then replace :
- 2 separate std rooms, so we could stay, but would have to pack & swap rooms for each night
- Then managed to get 1 std room for 2 nights
- Then a lakeview room for 1 night, std for 1 night
- Then a lakeview room for 1 night, ‘de-luxe’ lake view room for one night
- And finally, a lake view deluxe room for the 2 night stay.

Their 1980’s style booking system doesn’t allow for changes. Or cancels on-line. So each ‘change’ meant booking the new version, then emailing their customer support to cancel & refund the prior booking. I got to know their support team quite well.

And after all that – in the middle of May, when BA cancelled the flights, and it became obvious we weren’t really going, I cancelled again. Maybe next year.

But for now, we’re virtually there.
The hotel/lodge and the view (possibly) from the room.

Great work folks ...12bar...TeeBee….great run this morning 14k around the lanes and fields, undulating route, but very enjoyable, the first time I have properly felt me self since lock down started. .cant explain why? nothing has changed much, just feel inwardly a bit like my old self....

Have a great Suday all, whatever your doing.

Some amazing running going on. I'm sat up in bed, thinking I should get up soon. Taking the teen to the local cafe for some brunch when she emerges from her pit later.

For anyone still interested in the virtual running medals I designed, I've blogged with a link to where they can be purchased online. medal

Welcome to the 700 miles in 2020 thread, everybody welcome. The thread motto is:
