MrS was beaten by a septuagenarian 100 marathoner at one of his first marathons and this an ambition was born. Generally I think if you’re running 1000+ miles a year at a happy pace you’ll have to run shorter and harder to get faster and how much do you want to do that? Based on observation only mind

Let it snow Daisy
Morning! Carp - what everyone else has said! :-)

Think I'll have to run with the club tonight as there's a lot going on during daylight hours. :-(

Diogenes
I always finish behind the old man who appears to have risen from the grave, sometimes he is missing a limb or two.

Thank you all heart
Just being a bit stupid at the moment. Returned to club a few weeks ago and am the slowest there, no change really but I used to be on the heels of the penultimate runner a d now they're all standing at the session start point waiting as I huff up about a minute behind everyone else.

Anyway, I have FGM and child sexual exploitation awareness training today so that'll put my silly complaints into perspective.

Happy Wednesday to you all x

Carp, I am absolutely genuinely in awe of how much mileage you get in, especially with everything have to deal with. I find myself thinking you must have more than 24 hours in your days because I don’t know how you squeeze everything into 24.

Speed isn’t everything but I get that it’s frustrating.

It doesn't normally bother me. I don't know why it is at the moment. Other things are bothering me too which ought not to so it's just me!

Carp, back in 2014 I did the Keswick Half Marathon and was overtaken by an octogenarian so you're not alone :)

It's a question of goals though and appropriate training, it's safe to say that the vast majority of people stood waiting for you would be incapable of the endurance, both time and distance, that you are.

And I can guarantee they don't have as nice a moon

Morning :)

Carp, on our run on Monday I was lucky that one of the ladies stayed behind and ran with me. She told the others to stop waiting for us after a while. I was well pissed off as it was supposed to be a run all together and when we finished, the leader was still hanging around but everyone else had buggered off home.

I am always dismayed when people have the kind of experience you describe AR and Carp. There just is no excuse for not being inclusive and making slower runners feel part of a group rather than a nuisance.
