Linds, Daisy - if I can tackle a spin class, you certainly can! - Though admittedly, in my case it is probably fools rushing in where angels fear to tread.
C25K run/walk done (temperature dead on 0). I have now logged 6 miles for January.

Lovely photo MM! Just had a call from Norfolk & Norwich hospital appointments office offering me an appointment this Thursday. How fantastic is that?! Super quick service, just hope it's a fuss about nothing. Anyway I will forget about it, we are off to the pub with my parents and my recently widowed aunt and we are all looking forward to it!
Never tried spin, isnt it meant to be proper hardcore?

Very good news, Lemon!
When I mentioned to Younger Daughter that I was going to spin classes, her comment was "Mum, that's really hard core!"
If I'd heard that before I started, I probably wouldn't have started.

Columba is indeed hardcore, but I think you can do spin no matter what your fitness or ability level. Love the photo, great riding scenery! On the train to the seaside, I just realised that I have Farnbrrrrrrr half next Sunday (eek!) and haven't done a long run in forever (though I have plenty of miles in my legs from last year) so a long hilly run is on the cards this weekend.

That's great L10, less time to fret about it.
The first time I did spin was with a friend I was visiting in Copenhagen - she was a colleague who had to stay the weekend with work and was allowed to fly someone over for company so she chose me. I nearly threw up! But I like cycling and pushing myself so overall I loved it. As someone (Meglet?) said, you can change the resistance to suit your fitness, so no real reason not to give it a go, but it can depend a bit on the instructor.
Great photo MM, one day I would love to live nearer coast.
I rowed and now have a gin.

I have to admit to sneaking a look at my neighbours’ spin bikes to see what resistance they’re using! Though dependant on which bike I choose I can’t always see.the first class was quite prescriptive, he helped us set a ‘base’ level, then told us to add 10 or 20% and what rpm to aim for. There was an awful lot of adjusting, probably too much. The second she went on ‘feel’ and did a bit of arm stuff by dipping on the bars. The third was more overall toning as we did quite a lot of dips as well as a track using small hand weights. Coordination was tricky. My arms aches for a few days. This week’s was almost no arm stuff, but a series of sprints and hill climbs which made me feel I’d really worked my cycle muscles and got some good training.

I find spin really hard. Legs burn far more than running. Done it a few times but never really got hooked. For some reason my Achilles tends to hurt afterwards too. My sister loves it though.
