Telescopes still going and staggeringly productive -2 albums in 2022, and this is the second of 2023.

2022’s we’re definitely a bit too far ambient/experimental even for me but love 2023’s efforts.

I have been neglecting adding my reviews the past 2-3 weeks and I have 20 to add! Fortunately I made some notes.

One from last week Esben and the Witch - Hold Sacred.

Bit shoegazey, but not with the (female) vocal pushed down in the mix as often happens. Even hints of Swans on the couple of tracks (In ecstasy, True Mirror), it got lots of plays last week.

That's a lot of listening time McG.

I have been re-listening to old stuff on new stereo. Father John Misty has had some excellent moments.

All pretty much while redecorating a couple of rooms. A lot better than sticking some crappy radio station on. Well except for a couple of albums. Ascend's 'Ample Fires Within' is pain in music-form

I highly recommend BC Camplight’s 2020 album Shortly After Takeoff. I listened to both that and Last RotTion again this afternoon and both reward repeated listening.

Just realised an album I was waiting to come out has been out for over a month. By a band called Afflecks Palace. Sounding good on first listen.

HowFar?
I have the new one from Scala and Kolacny Bothers on this morning and it is a beautiful start to the weekend. An all female Belgian choir singing a Metallica song in Spanish - what could be better? The majority of the album is in English, but it does finish with Spanish versions of California Dreaming, Creep, Every Breath You Take and Nothing Else Matters. Wonderful!

As a spin-off from Joopsy's excellent Albums of 2022 thread fetcheveryone.com/forum/albums-of-2022-62537/ this is a new thread where we commit to listen to one new album a week in 2023. Allowing a couple of weeks off for life commitments etc, that's 50 albums in the year.
EDIT - new and improved (i.e. exactly the same) for 2024
