A “cycling” trip Trip to Suffolk Darsham near the home of Adnams brewery.

58 Victoria Bitter from Earl Soham brewery lovely example of a traditional bitter
59 Trawlerboys best bitter from Green Jack brewery I do like beers that say what they are.
60 Broadside from Adnams. A strong dark bitter
61 St George pale ale from Wolf brewery. Very refreshing after a cycle ride
62 secret springs. A pale ale collaboration between Adnams and Siren. Brewed in Southwold. Very fruity as you would expect and I think very much a summer beer.

I'll be interested to try that Secret Springs. I've not liked many of the Adnams collaborations in the past but I like some of Siren's beers so I'll aim to give that a try.

It wasn’t typical Adnams at all much more like Sirens beers.

An unplanned visit to a pub after a family walk led to a very unusual event. I actually enjoyed beers brewed by MacMullens.

63 Fit for a king a light amber bitter style 4.2%

64 Harlequin Golden ale. Brewed under the Rivertown label. A bit fruitier than the one above

Two seasonal beers, both very good. I hope this is the start of an improvement as they own some good pubs that I tend to avoid because of the beer.

That sounds good. Based on my past experience of McMullens (I grew up in one of their stronghold areas) I would think it's probably 25 years+ since I last drank one of their beers and if I have been in one of their pubs in that time (which I am fairly sure I haven't) then I would have most likely had a soft drink! But never say never - I am prepared to give them another chance should the opportunity arise - even if that opportunity isn't until after hell freezes over!!! :-)

I agree with you Baroness. I’ve always avoided their pubs whenever I can. It’s just that yesterday I wasn’t in control of where we went.

I will report on some of their other offerings in due course.

Update on a few beers that I have tried over the last 10 days

65 Essex legend another one from Mighty oak. A bitter this time
66 Box of Frogs Tanners brewery. A very fruity pale ale nice in the sun
67 side pocket Tring brewery a bitter always a good choice
68 Phoenix Kelter brewery. A pale ale that didn’t impress me
69 pave the way from Big hug brewing, another New brewery for me this is a American IPA lots of flavour. Very good pint which made up for the Phoenix
70 Classic bitter from Three brewers.

I am lucky that my nearest pub is a really good CAMRA supporting free house with 6 hand pumps and the landlord likes to try new beers.

A lot of bottles and cans, a number of repeat beers, we have been in a lot in May for one reason or another, also went a bit pale, dragging it back with a few bitters of late.

About This Thread

Maintained by Ocelot Spleens
and here we are in 2024....

I still really like a pint.

I think this is not too controversial health wise. Lots of beers about these days. I interpret it as different beers within 2023, and you can, if you like; avoid beers you have had before, but as ever the list is yours to do what you like.
