Maybe we should do a Fetch relay from the brewery in Suffolk to AC using a bottle of St Peters as the baton :-)

That's a good subject fir a blog/thread. How bear are the main supermarkets to your house!

I used to partake a lot of St Peter's beer, but when I lived in Cirencester Waitrose was 400 yards away, now it is a trip around the motorway!

I liked the beer so much I would occasionally go out of my way, when in london, to The Jerusalem Tavern, their 'tap'. Clerkenwell.

I have tried a couple of St Peter's bottled beers, didn't like them. Found their plum porter to be quite "wishy washy" in comparison to the Titanic version.

Waitrose is around seven miles from me, but I don't tend to buy beer there. I did think of starting a beer blog, featuring all the cheap beers which were ignored by all the other blogs *(Punterbräu) but, as with most of my thoughts, it failed to launch.

And then minimum unit pricing came in and raised the floor, so the specifically cheap beers weren't any cheaper than some "normal" beers.

An interesting side effect is just what you can get at m.u.p. Quite a few stronger beers like Guinness West Indies Porter, Broadside, King Goblin, McEwans Champion, Old Jock. No more expensive abv for abv than any slab of macro-gak.

The nearest supermarket to me is about 5 miles away and doesn't have a great beer selection, but luckily only about 3 miles away is the Achelse Kluis, which is still a Trappist monastery where they brew the Achel beers and also has a shop selling lots of different Trappist / Belgian / Local beers...

Dvorak. Shanme you didn't write that blog because you could have done like for like comparisons. I have wondered what the effect of m.u.p. is in terms of on problem drinkers (my guess would have been maybe some) on health of people who like qyire a bit of tipple (little to none) but quite handy on profit and tax. I haven't really looked into it.

Nico. Not many Porters stack up well compared to Titanic!

I think that I have everything that would be classed as a mainstream supermarket within seven miles drive, most within five. My small town has Sainsbury's, Iceland and Co-op: the rest are in neighbouring Big Towns.

and here we are in 2024....

I still really like a pint.

I think this is not too controversial health wise. Lots of beers about these days. I interpret it as different beers within 2023, and you can, if you like; avoid beers you have had before, but as ever the list is yours to do what you like.
