Brilliant round up tOR, Hidden Figures is a brilliant film and makes me well up with happiness (with a bit of anger and determination too - my name is Happy + Grrr after all!) every time.
Happy birthday mini Toks. Not so mini - how do they grow up so fast?! G

Yes. I'd thoroughly recommend Hidden Figures.
Depressing and uplifting (more the latter than the former).
As a middle-aged, (middle class?*), able-bodied, unremarkable, heterosexual white male, lots of life is tilted in my favour, so I'll never be able to understand the inequalities that my fellow human beings suffer because they are accidentally born into a body or financial circumstance that doesn't fit what other people consider to be normal. I'll always be a tourist in those worlds at best, but I guess that as long as I am a respectful tourist that's a start.
The theme came to me when I caught the end of an interview with Dame Shirley a couple of weeks back - I looked her up and she's got a fascinating back story - and as a bloke who works in IT, there is a shocking under-representation of women in software development. In my 25ish years in software I could probably count on the fingers of one hand the number of female developers I have worked with. Loads of testers, some PMs but very, very few developers.
* not sure what class really is these days, but that's a completely different tangent to spin off on.

Ironically Richard, in the early days of computing, women outnumbered men in computing/IT, then around the 70s, men started taking over, squeezing women out and making it a lot male oriented career.

Lol Toks, just got my youngest through university, last time I was running seriously he was 6. However, this week I rolled back the years, on Sunday I thrashed my PB's from those days (from 10k-half marathon!),and today ran further than all but 2 of my runs from those days, 15 years later! Age is just a number!

Just spent the day with our CCF cadets doing adventurous training - fab day on the water, also climbing, mountain biking, archery. I haven't been on a bike for 20+ years. Am absolutely exhausted - don't think I'll run today!
