FR, I think Ron is spot on here. I used to really hate parkrun, probably mostly because I don't tend to enjoy 5ks so I only did parkrun infrequently. I've been doing them more regularly now and do think it helps my running, and I think the more frequently you do them the easier it gets to push yourself over that distance. Okay, I haven't done a great deal of racing recently to test this theory, but I think it helps at other distances as well, and I certainly feel stronger in my marathon training as well.

Excellent, Ron and Monkey, many congrats! Pleased to see Monkey is working hard as a 1500 mascot and taking his duties seriously. You won't want to hand him on after results like these, RonB.

Absolutely thrilled Funky Monkey is doing so well since he has been with Ron. And he goes and wins his first race. Well done Funky Monkey and your doing OK Ron.

I don't have any advice Fenners. I don't run at your level and just bimble along. I'd tend to say go for a parkrun.

Depends how far away your race was FR. If it's a parkrun a week before a marathon then smash the parkrun. If it's a parkrun the day before then use it as a recovery run and a bit of a leg loosener.
