Nice work Toks, getting those mile in nicely!
Top running FR also!
Very pleased as was able to run today for the first time since Monday! ππ Did Cardiff parkrun with a 1M joglet before and after, started off very easy and felt able to pick up the pace a bit in the last km π

Question: I've been training and not racing, only one race this year. During my taper to my next race(s), is there any point in running a parkrun? One parkrun, would that have any positive effect to my fitness? Is it a risk, both mentally (if I'm slow) and physically (if I pick up an injury). However, if I ran a 'fast' parkrun would the positive mental effect enforce the current feeling of being near (or at) the top of my game?

Thanks Fetchies, just head down and going for it, must say the 10k x 5 during the week was the hardest to get in and the weekend ones are relaxing as no pressure of school run and work helps

I'd always do the parkrun, FR, but then I love parkrunning, and also I seldom run fast enough to do myself any damage. So, not sure how helpful my advice is likely to be!

FR - parkruns have made a big difference to my racing. Nailing myself at parkrun has definitely made me a tougher runner in the business end of races so I say go for it, nothing to lose. You could get injured on any training run and you can have good and bad training runs so no need to beat yourself up if you do happen to underperform. Plus parkruns are awesome so DO IT!!!!

If I parkran during a taper then I would take it easy to be honest. Depending on how long the taper is, if it's at the start then maybe a race pace parkrun (which should be relatively easy if your target race is longer). If not tapering then parkrun hard as much as possible, as Ron says it's a great way to get used to the pain of a race!
