Good to hear that your cough is getting better GG, and hope your head soon clears.

Good also Steve that your wife was found to be ok after her tests. Well done for continuing your running, whilst keeping an eye on your hr.

We didn't fancy a parkrun this morning, so did a 5k forest run on one of our original courses. I was ok with 29.15, as we weren't racing it. My Vo2 max has improved to 48, and WAVA was 65.95 %

Too tempting LL..!! Great run and that HR just can't be accurate?! Your heart would be near enough vibrating at that level. Whatever, you're doing fabulously and I'm envious😊.
Five miles with HR average between 121 and 130 and two minutes a mile off what I was capable of at that rate just two years ago.

Thanks Steve; your hr seems to be ok for today's run. I wouldn't worry too much about the lack of pace in 2 years. I've lost a lot since my menisci tears in 2017. I was running 5k's in sub 24 minutes, and now that's a distance dream. I am though, determined to run sub 26 minutes sometime this year. I've got a 10k in June, and am aiming for 55 minutes, which will be tough. My hr for today was 135, max 147.

Steve I'd barely be able to do much more than walk at that HR. Mine is regularly sky high but I can still hold a conversation so I just ignore it.

Well done on 5 miles at that HR I am envious of that. Nice one HS sounds like your really enjoying your running which is what it's all about.

The good old "talk test" LL is a great indicator of ability and safety. Not to knock your HRM but I reckon it's very inaccurate. All the professional athletes/cyclists use chest belts when checking HR... I'm presuming you have a wrist sensor. Of course you should ignore heart rate monitor figures as high as yours when you're clearly not in any distress and you are running so well. Keep it up🏃
The ugh thing about my HR of 121-130 is that I am almost bloody well walking--- thus my concerns!
That's a great 10k target hs and not long to go, you're certainly putting in the ideal training.
Another 5k and a bit along slightly dampened trails this morning, everywhere outside is so ideal, green and full of bird song these days.

Well done Steve for another 5k.

I ran a hilly road 10 miles this morning, the first 5k with Karen. She ran back then as she only wanted to run 10k .I pressed on, gradually increasing the pace and then just before 5 miles, there was a loud rumble of thunder, and the heavens opened. From there on, it was a battle against the elements, wind and rain. The rain was driving into my eyes, mixed with sun lotion running down my forehead. The pavements were flooded in places, and cars were spraying water from the roads all over me. I was cold and could hardly see out of my eyes which were stinging and watering. The last 2 miles were a struggle and I had to force myself to keep going, albeit a very wobbly plod.

Sounds like a tough run HS well done for gritting your teeth and finishing, I have just finished a very humid 6 miler, I threw in a couple of hills for good measure..wonder if we will get some sort of storm? Im in the midlands ..
