Nice run Steve. I missed parkrun this morning so took my dog on a 3 mile trail run/jog/walk around the woods. It’s also a couple of degrees cooler here which is nice.

Please excuse another bit of reminiscing: in those days of 2 deliveries a day, etc., we were living 4 miles from Reading, and if we posted a letter in our village postbox in the morning, then it would be delivered to another local address (Reading area) that same afternoon - generally the right local address! There was also the pricing of 2d for a postcard, 2.5d for unsealed envelope & 3d for sealed envelope. I also remember one Christmas when working for the GPO as a student, being based at Reading Station from 6pm to 6am for 7 consecutive nights loading and unloading bags of mail - the mail trains were essential.

Well done Steve, you are run/walking consistently now.
I missed parkrun too Jaks. That sounded nice, running with your dog in the woods.
Today is apparently the hottest of the year down here in Hampshire. I didn't do the usual parkrun as the friend I usually run with is doing the GNR tomorrow.
I ran a solo 6 miles in the forest which included 5k on the course we used to run during Covid restrictions. It was 25 degrees, and my sweat band couldn't cope 🥵🔥🌞. I was very pleased to run 29.45 as it really was scorchio.
There were lots of dog walkers, but not a single runner, they probably had more sense 😉

Some great running and reminiscing going on. I can vaguely remember ds£ and a better postal system. I can also remember the phrase 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'. I thought technology was supposed to improve things.

When I started work in 1962, my take home pay was £5.14 per week. Out of that I had to buy a season ticket from Surbiton to Waterloo and Tottenham Court Road and give mum housekeeping money. Anyone on £20.00 a week, £1,000 per annum was considered to be really well off.

I started my first permanent employment in December 1962 at a huge annual salary of £300 - my take home pay was about £21 per month. After mum had her slice, she'd give me back the cost of 5 midday meals - 1/9 per day (approx. 9p in decimal currency); I usually had enough spending money each month to afford 1 12" LP record, which would cost about £1 each - it was all classical music of course -I've still got them all safely stored in a box. Those were the days, my friend!

I can't remember what my take home pay was when I was a young man! I can remember that when I got married in 1971 the rent on our flat was £16 per month/£4 per week. The same flat is now £1200 per month! (I still live just 1.5 miles away from our first abode!) I'd rather think back to those figures than my earlier running times😂😂😂. Only did 2.2 miles run/walk this morning, a sprinkle of light rain and 20c made it nicely humid!

I had a rubbish nights sleep and eventually got up at 3am (so not to disturb mr jaks with my tossing and turning) so just ran a mile.

Well done Steve and Jaks for getting out running.
I ran a solo hilly 5 miles this morning on roads, and it seemed as hot as yesterday. Very sweaty again 😓🚿
