Go on LL, you know we want you to!
Evangel, I'm trying not to laugh too much at your wording of "never burst the boiler"! That'd be messy......
My Garmin tends to be fairly consistent, although I'm not sure it's that accurate for anything other than time and distance (and it has wibbles around distance!), I use it as a check to see if anything changes.

RFJ
Hi all, back from a few days away in Wales. Walking is going well but the biking has tailed off.
Got my MS acceptant tattoos yesterday, so another step taken....
Take care all

Well done RFJ
I'm taking today and tomorrow as rest days from running, but have done a good workout this morning.

Re heart rate Evangel and LL, I agree up to a point and overall I can be disdainful of gizmos and tech when it comes to running. However, on the other hand for me I use my heart rate as a measure of safety because I don't fancy dropping dead out in the wilds! I am able to exert myself and often did of course when I used to race and having used four monitors over the years (and currently two different ones) all with chest straps and all showing consistency. I know that getting into the area of anaerobic threshold at my age might not be so smart. Unfortunately I carry a large chunk of ego and early this year I did "push it" on one run which resulted me in feeling very unwell and needing to sit down on the side of the road--thankfully near home. I do know my body and how I feel but my ego is a nuisance! My HRM doesn't have an ego! After forty two running years you'd think I had more of a sensible approach and tune into my body. Still working on it! Glad that the walking is going well RFJ and that the acceptance is on display! I ran with my wife again this morning--without HRM, five miles with some speedier efforts after half way which took me to the top end of my HR by the way I felt!

..of course I meant getting into the area of anaerobic thresh-hold for too long...

Steve I suppose what we’re really saying is knowing your body and clearly you know yours better than us 🤣 well done on your 5 miles. No Marky not yet I’m doing a 12 with a pal on Sunday and will hold off until then. If that goes well I’ll do it after. I’ve done 2 marathons one in 2010 and 2012 but think I’ve entered 3 more since and not done them.

Nice of you to say that I know my body LL but (that "but" again!) I really don't think I know mine any better than anyone here--and knowing ..and putting into practice is yet another matter! I'm great at principles but not so great in adhering to them when it comes to running! Yep, still working on it! Well I AM keeping up with the principle of interval training and did another session this week which makes it five now! My HRM battery needs replacing so I don't know what my HR reached but "feeling wise" I think I was near enough to maximum ability for reps. The recovery periods were fabulous!! Marathons aren't the be all and end all LL, you're running very well and with a twelve miler coming up a good half marathon is there waiting!

Steve, I don't always practice what I preach. What intervals are you allowing for recovery between efforts?
LL, I hope that it is a bit cooler for you on Sunday for your 12 miler.
