Going by the thread title, and WW questioning that it's still cicrles, did fetch state somewhere that he was going to change the shape for 2023 ?
I think the first year they appeared (2017 or 2018 ?) they were hexagons, but have been circles ever since.
Do dome GPS positions fall in the "gaps" between the circles, and squares would fix this ? Or is there a different reason people want to change from cicrles ?

I think so Gus, maybe back on the 2022 thread somewhere.

I don’t care, was just expecting to see a new hole-free carpet after my run today!!

Fetch discussed changing the shape at some point, I think related to filling the gaps??

The code is quicker, plus it would do away with circles that don’t seem to quite match your path. As things stand, I am still getting over Covid, so nothing’s changed.

I’m in! It encouraged me explore more places last year and I got my best so far in the year of 8,639 (no cycling), so maybe it’ll be 10,000 in 2023? 🤞

Get well soon fetcheveryone, I'm happy for them to be circles or squares, whichever makes most sense from a site efficiency point of view!

I've mostly ignored them for now (got 4705 last year on mostly walks, a few runs and one bike ride). Aiming to beat that this year, with a stretch goal of 10,000 - to inspire me to visit new places :)

Possibly the only achievement in Fetch that isn't rewarded by the granting of badges, we are now in the Nth year of trying to get 10,000 of them. The blue shapes represent the number of different places we have exercised in, a place being an area of - someone correct me - maybe 50m^2 or 100m^2, and only as recorded on a GPS-tracked excursion.

Find your blue shapes in the training log in three simple steps: at the top, change the date to "All 2023". On the next line, set a filter if you ...
