Last year was the only year I've made it over 10,000, mainly thanks to my mileage on the bike: 16404 circles in total, but running only accounted for 2741 of those.

For the first 4 months of this year, I've collected 3483 circles, of which 2850 are from running. So I'm ahead on running but need to get some long runs in on untrodden territory and make the most of any travel to places further afield.

It's definitely easier to get more squares by cycling. My cycling circles have overtaken the running circles last month.

Cycling training has begun in April, as you can tell from the numbers (totals at the end of March in parentheses plus rate of change). Depending on how much I get out on the bike, I'll get there by the end of May or in June

7016 (4759) + 2257 in total
3832 (3339) + 497 running
4263 (1755) + 2508 cycling
823 (614) + 209 walking

Just over 4000, walking, so I'm in a reasonably good place.

I do intend to get every accessible circle within a mile of home. That is a challenge in itself.

I can imagine.

I haven't even got one of the circles adjacent to my home. Ever.

I also have one next to home that I shall only get if a neighbour invites us to a garden party... but I'm only trying for the accessible ones.

I've filled in quite a bit of the area round where I live, though I've drawn the line at intruding on the grounds of three secondary schools, a water treatment works, and the mainline out of Kings Cross.

About This Thread

Possibly the only achievement in Fetch that isn't rewarded by the granting of badges, we are now in the Nth year of trying to get 10,000 of them. The blue shapes represent the number of different places we have exercised in, a place being an area of - someone correct me - maybe 50m^2 or 100m^2, and only as recorded on a GPS-tracked excursion.

Find your blue shapes in the training log in three simple steps:

•at the top, change the date to "All 2024"
•on the next line, set a filter ...
