Sorry, I haven't popped in to the thread for a few days now. I'll take a screenshot of the 'annual table' later and do my round up tomorrow afternoon. Well done to everyone who's on target so far. Hope training is going well for everyone. |

Rosehip I had problems with popliteus after the Beer Lovers Marathon - a huge flight of steps did me in and took ages to sort itself out - but thankfully it did in the end. Hope yours is sorted quickly x

Thanks minardi - anything in particular you did to help it? Or was it just rest? |

Thanks everyone. My 2013-2017 days were easy even when 200 miles a month were regularly racked up but I can't/won't/shouldn't be contemplating training like that again. Short opener for February intended to be on grass but wore the wrong shoes which were slipping on waterlogged areas so cut things short back on the road. Some fabulous running going on by everyone, hope that knee injury clears up Rosehip and that mileage is still good! |

Rosehip I've just checked my blogs from the time (Jun - Aug 19) and it was initially thought to be hamstring tendonitis by self-diagnosis and also by a soft tissue therapist but then I saw a physio who diagnosed the popliteus. Sharkie also had problems that year with hers and her memory is probably a darn sight better than mine re how it was dealt with. She mentions hamstring strengthening.

Saw my name and nipped in. Yes, carefully diagnosed popliteus. Not one of your common ones but a tricky little bugger to deal with. I was out of competitive action and hard training for a good month, perhaps longer. Main exercise given was indeed hamstring strengthening. I did a lot of isometric raised single bridge. One foot on bench then lift to bridge position. You can actually touch the back of the leg and feel the hammy engaging. Move position of supported leg to target different sections of muscle. I also had core work and some calf work - but it depends on the individual obviously - and one of my 'things' is that I am very mobile which can compromise my strength. Also am sprinter rather than ultra runner as you know! If it's still a problem, Rosehip, I would definitely get an expert's advice. My Phys was brilliant. |

Thanks Min I’m not convinced that’s what it is - should go see someone, I suppose |

Ok. The January list is ready! I have just realised that as I took the screenshots this morning some people had already logged a February run so the list isn't quite in the right order. Apologies! I will get my act together before I send the info to jennyh for the list at the end of this month. Just have to see if I've got my formatting correct. |
