FF awesome performances from you both.

I went from 24th at CP4 up to 17th so may have benefited from some of your burnouts, passed 3 who'd clearly slowed lots just before Tunstead Milton!

I am somewhat intrigued by damo2000's definition of "not racing it".....second place, I think! Not bad for a first:-)

Yes, really happy with my 1st podium ever in my first ultra ever. What I meant by 'not racing' was not heading out at marathon pace, had to hold myself back at about 90-95 sec/mile slower than MP up to checkpoint 2 just before the three peaks - which felt very odd pace for a race. I was 15th at CP1 and 9th at CP2, and just managed to pick people off between there at the finish. Weather and scenery was perfect, beautiful autumnal colours for much of the route. And the race organisers are great, pre-race briefing lasted one minute; listen to the marshals and the words 'dont be a dick' repeated many times - classic!

Yes Damo - just think what you could have done if you hadn't knocked out that 2:48 marathon a couple of weeks ago ;-)

Well done Damo. Great run. You paced it brilliantly to come from outside the top 10 to 2nd. That was me you kindly offered help to along the cow pat alley :) I was walking back to CP4 after yet another race induced injury. It was particularly disappointing as the same thing happened in Ayr but I was able to finish. This time it came on, I rested for about 3 minutes, then picked it up again. Lost a couple of spots, but when I get back running managed to catch second and was sitting 10s off the leader to get my breath back and then hit a set of steps and bang. Twice as painful and took twice as long to calm down to a dull ache. Walking was the best option.

Sorry to hear that Boab, I was actually thinking of you after the race wondering if you were OK or not. Was it cramp or existing injury that flared up again?

Cheers Damo, it seems to happen so far into races where climbing is invovled. Sales thing now in two races. Nothing to report today but I could hardly lift my leg on Saturday! I do have an existing groin strain which may or may not be connected. Never mind there will be more races.

You must be delighted with your run. I can only see good things ahead for you. Well done again.
