Rich963 Good course - not flat, but not too hilly. Only problem was the heat, although I didn't suffer as much as some. Disappointed with the time, as over a minute slower than PB, but I think that was due to the heat. Beat a couple of team mates that usually are ahead of me, but looking for a better performance next time out.

Firestarter That was probably my most disappointing performance to date. Was on target for a decent time over the first 3-4 miles recording 6:30 avg' splits. Then a twist of my knee at the water station, (trying to grab a sponge), forced me to slow in mile 4, and almost got me to walking pace in mile 5, which ruined any chance I had of posting a good time. Had to just grit my teeth and ignore the pain to try and gain something back in the last mile with a split of 5:57. The heat didn't help, and neither did the knee, but I should have done better! Apologies to those who had bet on a PB for me.

Boycie A beautiful course - very hot day indeed. Race was ruined by two stupid horse riders who decided that it would be a sensible thing to take their two mounts down a narrow path that had 600 runners coming. Horse decided to bolt and unseat rider just as we approached, which caused about 10 of us to have to stop for several seconds and then we were unable to get going again until we had passed the horse which trotted off in the race direction. After that unable to get going again - very frustrating as had gone through 3 miles in 17m 55. Still a PB but could and should have done a LOT better - not happy.

long whatton speedster 17:35 for first 3 miles mmmmmmm, thats going to hurt! However felt strong and was first hermitage runner through 5 miles. Last mile took over 8 minutes. Severe cramp forcing a slow down, very nearly dropped out completely, walking was impossible. An absolute gutter to be so close to victory and suffer so badly, not an excuse. Just the way races go. Sub 6's all the way to that point. Fierce battle with team mate, who nailed me in the final mile.
