Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Banny Abysmal, the whole morning. I got everything wrong. Left late and even had problems at the start line with my ear phones, mobile phone/mp3, stopwatch, No pins for my number, EVERYTHING! The run itself was great. two laps around from the stadium, Gurnell Pool down to Perival BR Station. A frozen morning with icy ground all about but a beautiful sunny empty sky. Wonderful to run in.
Definately better with more to come. Used a Thames Valley Harrier as my hare, we spoke after and thanked each other for helping. Nearly turned my ankle over just before 4 miles on the pavement edge on a bend. Nothing else.
Great stuff.

DaveH Entry OTD and left late as I couldn't find the shorts which were obviously exactly where I'd put them in the drawer that they always live in.

Yopped (again) on the back straight and lost 15-20s, but pleased to get sub-30 given the conditions and anti-speed work over the last 3 months.

Dull Napoleon™ Spent most of the race convinced the mile markers were in the wrong place. A real shock to take 31 secs off my PB especially as it's just two weeks before my 52nd birthday

Millyvp Hmm - didn't feel so good for this one! Think I started too fast and then flaked a bit and had to have a little walk just before the 4 mile mark....thanks soo much for all the support of the runners passing me - particulary the guy in the hat who I spoke to just before the race re: my fleece top (whether or not to wear it) who told me I had done all the hard work and should keep going...helped no end and worked!! THANK YOU!! Should have looked up a little more on the course as when I approached the clubhouse I thought I was done and when I spotted people running a lap of the racetrack it was a killer....I thought - do I reeeeally have to do that!!! Got there in the end but think I should have managed it in just under 37 mins.....wasn't at my best today by any means!! Glad I did it though!!

Muds Forgotten what a 5 feels like on the road! Trying to race myself fit. Small amount of strides, fartlek & tempo. Not yet ready to hit Intrval training properly. Forgot to start watch. 5:50 is mile 18:52 last 3. Need to train & practice!!
Good event well organised.

philinstone -4 degrees when I scraped the ice of the car this morning - but with 3 layers, gloves and a beanie on I was hot after 2 miles..took the hat off and pushed to the end -

tied up a bit in the last mile...could have acheived the 38:20 - but on the whole - really pleased with the pacing at this stage in my training

Simo Totally wrong race strategy.
I felt strong so I started fast... never again! Anyway I start believing that a 5mile is not so different from a 5k, both must be run at full steam, both really hard for a slow starter like myself, so maybe starting fast was not the only eason why I wanted to pull out half way through! Still, I did it below the 40 minutes mark, which was my last minute bet with a running mate! Sweet feeling! :-)
