Hamster1207 Excellent race today. Felt good & strong after yesterdays day off. Wasn't sure about my fitness so was a bit conservative for the first few miles but after that it all went very well. Hardly noticed the short sharp hill at mile 6 and the long slow gentle climb up through mile 10 was a breeze. Pushed the pace a bit on the way back down and wondered why I got a bit of a stitch. Looked at the Garmin. 6:48 pace. Holy Crap Batman no wonder it was hurting a bit. Eased it back to about 7:15 then sat on the shoulder of a lady I was dueling with all the way then pounced with 400yds to go. Went by hard and kept the hammer down to put her off coming back at me and pushed through to the line. Some say the course is a little bit short ( Garmin would agree ) but its officially a half marathon so I'm taking it as such. This is 37secs slower than last year but I had no idea where I stood with my fitness levels so all in all I'm very pleased with the result. No aches or pains during the race though a little stiff now. Time to stretch & roll buddy, stretch & roll ....

Edmondo Very cold day so first race in full winter run wear. Pretty fast course with wind generally helping. Felt pretty comfortable with my 7min miles target and well inside on the downhill sections. Not overtaken by anyone in last half and picked up a few places myself. Probably went for finish a little quick but hung on ok. Really pleased to be back inside 1.30 and would have been even if full length as 0.1m short on my garmin.
