Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Ally2 7th july: Fancy a race and so I hope to enter on the day (see how long run tomorrow goes). Never raced over 7 but going on 10k time this year hope to get sub 46- hills or no hills, heat or no heat. Race: watchtime of 43:24 but will probably be confirmed as 43:30ish. I enjoyed passing lots of people on the hills and then being overtaken on the downhills. Overall pleased with time. Met Boycie; he had a storming run and was ahead of me at mile 5 then I left him on the last big hill! Came 45th.

Beccals hope to knock a bit off my previous best time for 7 miles, but it won't be a lot! Amazed at result because I was feeling truely shattered and really didn't feel like running. Gave up looking at watch after first couple of miles and just ran to how I felt. It was an undulating course, with a long hill which I kept running up. So overall happy.

Boycie Unexpected chance to do this one... Close call for a PB - definitely fitter than last year 45:38, but it is quite a hilly course and has the tendency to be hot even though it's an evening race... UPDATE: A cheeky 90s PB - started steady and managed to up the tempo in the last 3 miles - accepting for the 6th mile with the massive bloody hill!!! Should have been more confident about the PB... Surprising though as I felt a bit rubbish throughout the day....

Rich963 Current PB was set a year ago on this course on a really hot evening - must be due for improvement this year...
And there was improvement! 1min 22secs of it - very pleased with that. Not quite the 2 minutes I hoped for, but I'll take it. Splits were 6.37 6.51 7.06 6.53 6.27 7.24 6.15 - I think I judged the effort well - it is a tight start, which helped with not going off too fast and a couple of really big hills (3rd/4th mile and 6th mile) where I overtook a few people. Enjoyable race though - and a few points for those who bet on me...

ThorntonRunner Have been injured (adductor) last two weeks and still suffering, but want to run this to maintain my 100% record in league races. Ran 4 miles on Sunday in 8min/mile pace without a reaction, so currently intend running this, but at nowhere near full pace. UPDATE: Still not right, so will treat this as an easy pace training run - have downgraded prediction even further accordingly! UPDATE: Satisfied with result. Started gently and gradually upped the effort. Probably 3-4minutes slower than would have been at full fitness. Some reaction this morning, but not too bad - I'll take a few days off now!

way2slow Hadn't been feeling well for a couple of days before and had done a 5-miler on the tues so didn't have as much energy as usual for this one. Decided to treat it more as a training run than a race and just go off nice and steady and see what happened. Was rather hard work but loved the hills - Am sure the 2nd one went on for about 3/4 mile! The ice-cream van at the finish was a stroke of pure genius - was the best 99 i've ever had!!!
