Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Sodahead This will be a decent indication of where I am and how much I have still got to do. This is what happened -

Weather conditions were not good. A stiff north easterly breeze helping us on the outward half but right in our faces all the way back :o(
A good competitive field had been assembled
We set off on the B of the boom – they only started the race with a small ships cannon.

And what a start it was. The leaders set off as if it were a 1500m race. Immediately the top 30 runners were strung out.
Mile 1: 5.44 run at marathon HR, just sorting things out.
Mile 2: 5:39 down(ish) wind and I pick off a couple of runners. I get on the shoulder of a runner from Birtlee and I have on my shoulder a FLM trainee (85 miles so far this week)
Mile 3: 5.51 sort of conserving energy sat on Birtlee man and not wanting (or more importantly I don’t have the confidence) to take it on. But before the end of mile 3 I do take it on and I open a small gap on Birtlee man. FLM man is right on my shoulder.
Mile 4: 6.14 so much happens in this mile -. We are running into the wind and it hurts a lot. FLM man runs past me and I cannot stay with him. I am isolated and running into the wind. Birtlee man runs past me and I dig in behind him for some shelter and then Lofty from HBR sails past us both. So I step out from Birtlee man and try and stay with Lofty (working at 93% MHR here)
Mile 5: 6.12 the last mile, Lofty puts in a kick and I just cannot hang onto him. Bu@@er, Birtlee man catches me and runs past me, double bu@@er – but he only gets 5 yards on me. With about 300 meters to go I raise my effort to “fast finish” mode. I cruise past Birtlee man and wheeze my way to the finish line in at 96% MHR for a time of 29.40 (my time).

I was hoping for a sub 29 minutes but everyone’s time was shot to pieces in the last two miles. I am still being beaten by runners who I (hopefully) will run past in a months time.

A goodly outing in a very well organised event. Thoroughly enjoyed the racing with Mr Birtlee and Lofty.

Another good run in the legs.

Gasheader Poorly first half of this week, now having a few days rest and will give it a blast on Sunday, not 100% but may sneak a PB as coarse is flat and fast.
Good and Bad news - Ran new PB , Still think this the worst run of my life .
Set of fast but missed first mile marker fretting on how fast I was going got to 10mins and both calves started to tighten by 2 miles 13min 40 but now in pain and running with straight legs mile 4 at 27:50 last mile 7min 16 sec including a feeble attempt at a sprint.
Great news no symptoms of Flu temp etc so killed off most of Virus , but still caughing like a 60 a day man. Legs still acking today but managing recovery runs . Im confident I can knock another min off this time,
